This morning, within the framework of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers in South America, Uruguay welcomed rival Peru.
The main striker of the home team, Luis Suarez, started the game but could not enter his name on the electronic board. Atletico Madrid striker played 76 minutes and then left the field to make way for Lucas Torreira.
Fortunately for Uruguay when Flamengo star Giorgian de Arrascaeta replaced Suarez’s goal with a goal at the end of the first half.
De Arrascaeta’s goal was also the only scoring situation of the game. Uruguay won 1-0 in the end.
Pocketing 3 full points, Suarez and his teammates officially won tickets to Qatar at the end of this year. In the context of qualifying with only 1 round left to close the curtain, Uruguay is definitely in the Top 4 leading teams with 4 points more than Peru in 5th place.
Suarez cut the net to bring back as a souvenir after an important victory.
Empty-handed before Uruguay, Peru must not be allowed to make mistakes in the Paraguay clash taking place after 5 days.
Colombia is closely trailing behind Peru in the race to win a ticket to the play-offs.
Against Bolivia, Luis Diaz opened a 3-goal win for the yellow jersey team.
Diaz and his teammates are only 1 point behind Peru and will face Venezuela at the bottom of the group in the final round.
