Tottenham Hotspur blew up a chance to consolidate fourth place in the Premier League when they suffered a 0-1 home defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.

Antonio Conte’s side had a lackluster performance and looked set to hit an uncomfortable stalemate before Leandro Trossard made things even worse with a 90th-minute goal.

After four wins in a row, the pre-match mood in north London was one of optimism but Tottenham’s performance stood in stark contrast to the bright spring sunshine.

They scored only one goal in a dismal first half, with Brighton being the better team.

Spurs showed a little more urgency after the break with Son Heung-min twice being saved, but Brighton always carried the bigger goal threat and scored well when Trossard came in from the left and beat Hugo Lloris with a shot into the low corner with the outside of his foot.

Tottenham is 4th with 57 points, just 3 points better than Arsenal, the team has 2 matches and plays later at Southampton’s field.

Brighton rose to 10th with 40 points.
