After Kieran Trippier, striker Chris Wood is about to join Newcastle to help this club complete its goal of relegation.
On the morning of January 12 (Hanoi time), Telegraph confirmed Wood was having a medical check-up in Newcastle. “Shoot” will spend £ 20 million to release the contract of the 30-year-old striker at Burnley.
Before that, Burnley was angry when Wood brought the idea of going to Newcastle. On the Premier League table this season, Burnley is standing above Newcastle with the same number of points (11 points). Wood is currently the mainstay of Burnley, so Newcastle make a “move” to push the opponent into a difficult position.

In more than four seasons with Burnley, Wood made 165 appearances and scored 53 goals for the club. This striker is 1.91 m tall and has outstanding physical strength, so it is suitable in the way of building coach Howe’s squad.
Previously, Newcastle spent £ 12 million to recruit defender Kieran Trippier from Atletico Madrid. “Shoot” spent on Trippier a salary of more than £100,000/week, the highest at the club, thus beating MU and Chelsea in the competition.
These are just the beginning steps for Newcastle’s ambition to transform. They are targeting more midfielders James Tarkowski (Burnley), Boubacar Kamara (Marseille), Edin Dzeko (Inter Milan), Aubameyang (Arsenal) and Dusan Vlahovic (Fiorentina).
Newcastle will prioritize recruiting more midfielder Tarkowski to “suck blood” Burnley. They aim to stay in the Premier League in 2021/22 before spending money this summer.
