WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson field hockey team (1-1, 0-0 NJAC) earned their first win of the season by defeating Western Connecticut 1-0 Sept. 2.

After a scoreless first half, Kristin Freas-Papa (Westville, N.J./Gateway Regional) converted a penalty stroke in the 47th minute
Haley Olsen (South Plainfield, N.J./South Plainfield) recorded her first collegiate defensive save while Mallory Rickerhauser (Lumberton, N.J./Rancocas Valley Regional) stopped two Colonial shots
The Pioneers controlled the pace of the game by out-shooting Western Connecticut 10-4 with six shots on target
