Barca made drastic moves to own striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang before the winter transfer window closed.
Aubameyang is eager to leave Arsenal.
Time is running out for the Gunners to sell Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in January. But Barca looks set to make one last push to bring the Gabon international to the Nou Camp.
The Sunday People (page 57) reports that Xavi wants the 32-year-old’s signature. Meanwhile, Aubameyang also wants to move to the Catalan giants, although he has previously received several lucrative offers from two clubs in Saudi Arabia.
Currently, Barca is speeding up on the negotiating table. Reports say the club has sent a director to London to try to negotiate terms with Arsenal over a loan deal.
The Sunday People also reported that the two sides had agreed to a solution of a loan contract until the end of the season. However, when Arsenal wanted to include a £41.5 million buy-out clause, Barca only wanted to pay £ 30 million for Aubameyang.
The fact that Barcelona wants to negotiate the case of Aubameyang is extremely promising for Arsenal. Of course, an outright buy option isn’t necessarily ideal, but it does open the door for the Gunners to push Aubameyang away from the Emirates Stadium in the quickest way.
On the other hand, the release of Aubameyang’s salary fund also helps Arsenal to be more confident and comfortable in negotiating with other strikers. After missing Dusan Vlahovic, Arsenal are targeting Alexander Isak and Dominic Calvert-Lewin. According to records from the British press, Isak has just appeared in London today and rumors spread, the Gunners are about to explode.
